bbq spare ribs

My first attempt at ribs on the UDS. Made many mistakes.

1. sugar based rub...blackened apearence.

2. needed more cooking time...only around 3.5 hrs in uds

3. did not cut them st louis style

thanks to the brethren forum the learning curve is fast

I will now post link to thread if I put it there to view comments

Grilled tofu and chicken

I have always loved tofu in hot and sour soup. So I decided to give this a try. The firm tofu was marinating a few hours. BBQ chicken was the back up plan in case the tofu made us vomit.

first started coals with chimney and newspaper. no farkin lighter fluid

first cooked up the chicken with indirect heat

finished it off over direct with homemade sauce

NOW the tofu yay
Grilled about 7 min on each side. It actually tasted pretty good I'm surprised! Don't get me wrong I'm not a vegetarian. Ill kill Bambi in a heartbeat but I still have some weight to lose. Is tofu healthy?

used gas side to start veggie stir fry while tofu cooking

Beer can chicken with hot n steamy pron

This was tonight's dinner. I have done beer can chicken a few times. It was on about an hour and a half at around 300. It tasted very good but it needed a few more minutes to fall off the bone.

Maybe next time lower temp longer time? Im just a rookie so I would appreciate any tips you guys might have.

After we ate there was still a little heat on the coals so made banana boats. The look like crap but taste gooood!

really no coals left but it was enough to get the job done.

I love to grill and bbq. I'm going to post most of it here to keep track of my highs and lows. I am basically a rookie learning as I go. Feel free to comment.
